Maggie Nelson for Oregon House District #47

Elect Maggie Nelson

I have lived in District #47 with my husband Tory for over thirty years. After a 20 year career in teaching, I retired in 2010.  I was elected to the Board of Education, MHCC in 2011, which I currently serve.

In a survey last year voters in Western Oregon responded that they believed job creation was the number one (#1) priority in our state.

As a fiscal conservative I will work for:

• Controlled government spending
• A healthy small business climate
• Increased jobs to stimulate the economy
• Cutting targeted business taxes and regulations

Oregonians continue to want better education outcomes.  As an advocate of education (PreK – 20), I will promote:

• Stable school funding
• Increased retention and completion rates
• Better access to student loans
• Increased financial aid programs

We must also provide stable funding for public safety and other core government functions without stifling our economy by raising taxes.
